Are You a Sojourner?

Sojourner Tours

Several principles distinguish sojourners. The most obvious is that they organize their trips around a single location, or base, from which they can take day trips. Their objective is to immerse themselves in a new culture as much as possible by interacting with local people, eating regional specialties and learning about the community’s customs and beliefs. They are open to new experiences and enjoy adapting a bit. In the end, they judge the success of their trips not just by the number of famous sites they photograph but also by how deeply their experiences affect and enhance the way they live once they return home.

You may be a sojourner if you:

  • Like to get “off the beaten path,”

  • Value quality over quantity,

  • Are an adventurous foodie,

  • Want to take time to “stop to smell the roses,”

  • Think: “when in Rome do like the Romans.”
